From a revision and bibliographical analysis, the authors present from two perspective, the technological and the environmental one, the development of one material that have become one of the commonest and most important in our days, the plastic. This article tries to show how, historically this material grew as one of the most versatiles and employees materials now a days, thanks to their characteristics and properties; and in a second delivery, will be show how it has become one of most important the reasons for the environmental problems and also will review the alternatives that are beeing considered for their environmental handling specifically
